Louisiana Revised Statute 17:233
High
school students are allowed 5 absences per semester
and younger children are allowed 10 per year.
Absences of two or fewer consecutive days may
be validated by a parent or caregiver. If a
student is absent for three or more consecutive
days, a student must present a note from a physician,
nurse practitioner, or dentist to be excused.
These new rules are restrictive and any extenuating
circumstances will need the approval of the
Supervisor of Child Welfare and Attendance.
